The Suffolk County Legislature voted unanimously on December 17th to make the county’s streets safer by passing IR1742, a new law requiring eight hours of rest after on-call emergency assignments for Utility Location Workers.

District 1 kicked off 2020 with a major victory: On January 2nd, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the New York State Call Center Jobs Act into law, capping off years of hard work by our members to protect the state’s call center workers.

As the trial over the T-Mobile/Sprint merger opened on December 9th in Manhattan, CWA members and allies gathered outside the courthouse to raise their voices about the merger and show their support for the 14 state Attorneys General who filed the lawsuit to block the merger, including New York Attorney General Tish James.
