The Verizon Workers' March for the 99%--with a dozen workers marching the whole way from Albany--will arrive in NYC and join a massive rally in Lower Manhattan. Most CWA members are meeting at Verizon HQ at 140 West Street between 4 and 5pm for a large informational picket. Members will march from 140 West Street at 5pm to join a massive rally for the 99% on Foley Square on the two month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, which has focused attention on corporate greed. Verizon Workers March for the 99%

As Verizon continues to offer proposals aimed to destroy middle-class jobs and cut benefits, Verizon workers are hitting the streets. Verizon represents not just the 1%, but the top one-tenth of 1% in this country. The company?s five highest executives took home $258 million in salary and benefits over the last four years. Yet, Verizon paid no federal income taxes from 2008 to 2010 and instead received $951 million in tax rebates. On Thursday, November 10, the Verizon Workers' March for the 99% will set off for New York City from downtown Albany to shine a spotlight on the corporate greed run rampant at Verizon.

Thousands of CWA Members and Occupy Wall Street Marched Against Verizon Corporate Greed

Verizon workers are part of the 99%! Occupy Wall Street, other unions, and community groups joined CWA members to march from 140 West Street past Zuccotti Park (aka ?Liberty Plaza?) to shine a spotlight on corporate greed at Verizon and Verizon Wireless. The march began with a huge informational picketing line at 140 West Street and ended with a rally near a Verizon Wireless dealer a block from the Stock Exchange.

Information About the Verizon EEOC Disability Settlement

The EEOC settled a disability discrimination suit against Verizon earlier this year. The terms of the settlement apply to former Verizon employees who were terminated under the company's absence control plans when they should have been able to take further leave as a reasonable accommodation for an ADA-covered disability.
