Verizon Workers March for the 99%

As Verizon continues to offer proposals aimed to destroy middle-class jobs and cut benefits, Verizon workers are hitting the streets. Our strike in August sent a powerful message that workers would not let Verizon dictate the terms of their contract without real negotiations. We returned to bargaining and made some progress, but Verizon continues to offer proposals aimed at destroying middle-class jobs and cut benefits.

We’re taking the next step forward to stop corporate greed and protect workers’ rights.

On Thursday, November 10, the Verizon Workers' March for the 99% will set off from downtown Albany. Over the next 8 days, 12 workers will march towards New York City to shine a spotlight on the corporate greed run rampant at Verizon.

We can’t remain silent any longer. We must take our battle to the streets and stand up to the destructive power of corporate greed. Verizon represents not just the 1%, but the top one-tenth of 1% in this country. The company’s five highest executives took home $258 million in salary and benefits over the last four years. Yet, Verizon paid no federal income taxes from 2008 to 2010 and instead received $951 million in tax rebates.
