Over 200 CWA Local 1108 members and our allies rallied for fair contracts at Verizon and Verizon Wireless and collected over 200 toys for the less fortunate children of Long Island during a rally and toy drive on Wednesday.

Our fight is the fight for all workers’ rights and our allies were proud to stand with us for justice at Verizon.

A big thank you to Long Island Federation of Labor Executive Director Roger Clayman and Long Island Jobs with Justice Director Anita Halasz who came out in support.

CWAers were also joined by Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory, Majority Leader Rob Calarco, Legislators Kate Browning, Bridget Fleming, Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Valerie Cartright, and NYS Assemblyman Andrew Raia. Thanks to all those who came out to stand with us.

It's time for Verizon to settle fair and just contracts that ensure good jobs. Verizon landline members have been working under an expired contract since August 1st. At the bargaining table, the company is still trying to take away job security, slash retirement security and increase healthcare costs by thousands of dollars. The company is also refusing to bargain a contract that improves working conditions for union retail workers in Brooklyn and Massachusetts.
