Tentative Agreement Reached at Momentive

WATERFORD, NEW YORK – Striking workers, represented by IUE-CWA Locals 81359 and 81380, and management of Momentive Performance Materials, have announced that a tentative contract agreement has been reached in the 14-week strike at the company’s plant in Waterford, New York. The national agreement also covers a small local in Ohio, 84707.  The ratification vote will take place next Monday and Tuesday, following contract explanation meetings over the weekend.  If the proposed settlement is approved, 700 workers in Waterford will return to their jobs beginning Wednesday, February 15th.
 
Terms of the agreement are being withheld until local union leaders have a chance to present details to the striking workers.
 
Leaders of the Communications Workers of America expressed gratitude to New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo ​for his assistance in helping to resolve this dispute and for his support of our workers and their families, and to the many other elected officials, including Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, numerous State Senators and Assemblymembers, who showed their support for the strikers.
 
“We believe we have reached an agreement that addresses the concerns of our striking members about retirement health and pension security,” said Dennis Trainor, Vice President for CWA District One. “While our members still have to review and vote on the proposed agreement, the IUE-CWA local union bargaining team believes it has hammered out a deal which will give our members – both active employees and retirees – peace of mind for themselves and their families.”
