“Feels Like a Breath of Fresh Air”; First Contract Ratified for Newest CWA 1101 Members

Nearly one year since they joined CWA Local 1101 in May 2025, workers at Sanky Communications, Inc overwhelmingly ratified their first union contract last week, by 92%!

Sanky members staved off multiple challenges while unionizing, including lay-offs mid-bargaining, but they stayed united and mobilized, and won a solid first contract that includes wage increases, improved parental leave, more sick days, establishment of a Labor/Management Committee, and more.

“Having a ratified contract feels like a breath of fresh air,” said Kiddest Sinke, Project Manager. “I am so proud of what our membership has accomplished!”

Sanky workers help non-profit organizations build and expand their fundraising programs through direct mail appeals, paid media fundraising, and digital media development.

“It was a hard-won fight,” said Kate Greenhouse, Senior Copywriter. “I’m really happy we now have a clear channel for communication between the Union and management. I hope the Labor Management Committee will create a space where both sides can come to a better mutual understanding of what each group needs to make the company run more smoothly. All in all, I’m excited to keep fighting for what our colleagues need to work and live well — now with the full heft of a ratified CBA behind us!”
