Solidarity with CWA Journalists

CWA District 1 supported The News Guild-CWA Local 31003 last month in their ongoing fight to preserve local news. On April 22nd, we rallied alongside journalists with Asbury Park Press, Courier News, and Home News Tribune to fight back against cuts that have decimated newsrooms and harmed local news coverage. Under the management of giant media company Gannett, news outlets in New Jersey and throughout the country have been gutted while Gannett executives have raked in multi-million dollar salaries and bonuses. TNG-CWA 31001 members have called for simple yet clear demands: living wages for workers, job security, and a reinvestment in local news so that workers can continue serving their communities.
CWA District 1 joined TNG-CWA 31001 as well as local elected officials to say: “We want protection from corporate whims so we can continue to tell impactful stories!”
