PRO-WORKER LEGISLATION ALERT! PRO-ACT PASSES IN HOUSE OF REPS.

The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act is historic legislation that would at long last strengthen workers’ rights to organize and bargain, and begin to reverse decades of attacks on the National Labor Relations Act by employers. And last night it was PASSED by the US House of Representatives! Click here to check out the speech given by our Rep. from Connecticut Rosa DeLauro during the debate.

"We have the opportunity today to choose a public policy that in fact will defend and protect working people in this country. Pass the PRO Act!"

Passing the PRO Act would help make our economy work for everyone by making it easier to join unions, protecting strikes and other protest activity, dealing a blow to “right-to-work” laws, and a lot more. The House of Representatives has been debating the bill over the past few weeks, and CWAers have hard at work to make sure they get the message loud and clear: we must work to strengthen unions and our right to organize!

Last week we held a phonebank to call CWA members to speak with them about the PRO Act and its importance for America’s workers, and encourage them to call their members of Congress. Over 100 CWAers called their Rep. to advocate for the PRO Act. While there's still more work to be done to get this bill passed into law, we're thrilled that our hard work on this first, huge step in getting the PRO Act passed resulted in a win!
