No Pay, No Way - Stopping Wage Theft in Port Chester, NY

CWA Local 1103 and Don Bosco Worker Center are working together to stop wage theft in Port Chester, NY.

"It was about the exploitation of workers in our own backyard. We wanted to stand up and fight back and say that the unethical behavior could no longer go on, “ said Kevin Sheil, CWA Local 1103 President.

As of May 2015, 70 Port Chester businesses have taken the “No Pay, No Way” pledge, promising to be fair to employees and pay regular wages as well as overtime wages.

CWA members are spreading the word and talking to business owners about the campaign. “I have a great union job. I don’t have to worry about wage theft and I want to make sure everyone else has the same thing and has a fair shot,” said Natalia Campbell, CWA Local 1103 member.

Nearly one-quarter of low-wage workers have been affected by wage theft. Stolen wages drive families into poverty, make local businesses less competitive, reduce community tax revenues, and increase government costs for emergency food and housing.

By working together, the community hopes to eradicate wage theft in Port Chester.
