Local 1102 Marches to Protect Community Land

Local 1102 with Amoy Barnes, candidate for City Council in District 49 on Staten Island
On Saturday, April 24th, members of CWA Local 1102 on Staten Island, NY joined dozens of Staten Island community groups to celebrate Earth Day with a march to highlight the Graniteville Wetlands. The Graniteville Wetlands, which helped protect nearby communities from major flooding during Superstorm Sandy in 2012, is a 42-acre green space in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, that’s on track to be bulldozed over and turned into corporate retail space, despite community outcry.
