FIGHTING TO MAKE OUR HOSPITALS AND NURSING HOMES SAFER
CWA members rallied outside a New York State Department of Health hearing to inform the public about the importance of establishing safe staffing ratios to improve patient safety and the quality of care in hospitals and nursing homes. CWA members also testified at the hearing in support of safe staffing.
"The time is now to make sure that we have nurse-patient ratios and enough support staff in our hospitals to get the job done -- before one more patient dies, before one more patient gets hurt, before one more nurse quits her job," CWA Area Director and RN Debbie Hayes told the New York Daily News.
