Fight Is On to Enact Critical Workers' Rights Legislation

When workers organize, mobilize, and strike together we can build power and win the wages, benefits, and working conditions we need and deserve. But for far too long, the balance of power in U.S. labor law has been tilted in favor of CEOs and the super-rich.

When CEOs and the 1% hold so much power, our economy and laws stay rigged in favor of the wealthy. They get richer while workers' wages stagnate and our working conditions get worse. We need big change.

The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act represents a critical first step towards rebalancing the distribution of power between workers and management in the US economy, and reversing decades of legislation that have undermined workers' rights. The bill will fundamentally change labor law t and make it easier to organize workers and win first contract agreements.

With the shift in power in Washington and pro-worker elected officials now holding a slim majority in Congress, the PRO Act is back on the table, and CWA members are gearing up for a huge fight to get the bill passed and create more opportunities for labor growth. CWA President Chris Shelton said recently::

This is the moment that working people have been waiting for. With the new pro-worker administration, and with public support for labor unions at the highest it's has been in decades, CWA members are ready to raise their voices, flood congressional offices with phone calls, and do every single thing within our power to make the the PRO Act – a sweeping labor law reform bill that would usher in a new era for workers – the law of the land.
The pandemic has illustrated how dangerously weak our nation's labor laws are, especially when workers decide to form a union, thanks to years of shameless corporate attacks on workers' rights. We are prepared for these professional union-busters to spread misinformation and use every dirty trick they possibly can against us in this fight. But CWA members are fired up because we all know exactly why these corporate special interests have to resort to these dirty tricks – it's because they see the writing on the wall. When millions of workers stand together, these union-busters will be exposed and defeated, and the voices of the workers will finally be heard.

Stay tuned for more info coming soon on how you can get involved and help make this historic legislation to protect workers' rights the law of the land!
