NJ SENATE COMMITTEE APPROVES PLACING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT ON BALLOT TO ENSURE PENSION FUNDING

The Senate Budget Committee of the New Jersey Legislature approved a resolution to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November 2016 to require the state make the required contribution into the public pension system, protecting the benefits that have been earned by public workers. The resolutions would put the state on track to make full pension payments by 2022.

CWA Local 1040 member Peggy Jackson is acknowledged for signed up over 100 non-members in just 8 months.

Nearly 700 CWA New Jersey shop stewards and activists gathered in Atlantic City for a two-day session of intensive training on how CWAers are fighting to protect public workers' retirement security and strengthen our union.

ALTICE-CABLEVISION DEAL: BAD FOR CUSTOMERS AND WORKERS

CWA has filed official objections with the Federal Communications Commission over the proposed sale of Cablevision to Dutch company Altice. The deal will lead to outsourcing of jobs. CWA represents 300 Cablevision technicians and workers in Brooklyn.

CAMDEN LIBRARY WORKERS PROTEST LOW WAGES, MANAGEMENT THREATENS DISCIPLINE

Many of Camden County Library's workers are making less than $9 an hour -- just barely above minimum wage and not enough to make ends meet. But when CWAers wore red shirts protesting their poverty wages, management tried to silence them with discipline.

WORKERS WIN $47,000 IN BACK WAGES

In a big win for Don Bosco Workers and the “No Pay No Way” campaign, five Port Chester, NY workers will recover $47,000 in a wage theft case against their employer. CWA Local 1103 and Don Bosco Workers have been fighting hard against wage theft in Port Chester.
