CWA Members Walk to Raise Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and CWA locals throughout District 1 have been working to do just that - raise awareness and help raise money for breast cancer research.
CWA Local 1036 members at the Department of Human Services hosted an event to spread awareness and stand with those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. The event included speakers who emphasized the importance of preventative screenings and shared their stories as survivors of breast cancer. DHS members and CWA 1036 staff then participated in a walk around the building in solidarity.
The CWA Local 1180 Women’s Committee joined the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on October 15.
On October 22nd, the CWA Local 1101 Warriors Team joined the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in the Bronx, NY, raising over $12,000 for breast cancer research. Over in Brooklyn, Local 1109 members walked more than three miles through Coney Island along with thousands of others. Read more about the Coney Island walk here.
