CWA 1084 Members March on the Boss, Demanding a Contract

On January 29th members of CWA Local 1084 who work for the Camden County Board of Social Services in Camden, NJ made a massive, unannounced visit at the end of an unproductive bargaining session to tell Management that it’s time to get serious and bargain a fair contract.

The members have been working without a contract since December of 2023 and have ramped up their mobilization over the last several months, and recently voted 98% in favor of authorizing a strike if necessary.

“When they come here, [workers] expect to be a great public servant that can serve our community,” said CWA Local 1084 President Stephen Johnson. “We’re the frontline workers that help people when disasters happen as well — earthquakes, snowstorms. We just want to be able to serve our community the best we can without the pressures of having to worry about how we’re going to live when we go home.”

On February 2nd, Management finally agreed to CWA’s suggestion to bring in a mediator, and significant progress was made at the first mediation session held on February 6th.

1084 members are continuing to mobilize to fight for and win the contract that they deserve!
