The holidays are here and while Verizon executives are looking back at a year of massive profits - almost $1.5 billion every month - and multi-million dollar salaries to fill their own pockets, we're still working without a contract. The company is still out to terrify and silence Verizon Wireless workers and refuses to offer any raises or improvements to newly-organized retail workers bargaining their first contract. In fact, the company just got slapped with a federal complaint for illegally firing Verizon Wireless retail worker Bianca Cunningham for her union activity.  Last week on November 19th we held rallies up and down the East Coast that were a big success! *  This week, we're taking action on Black Friday to make sure Verizon and their customers hear us loud and clear: We won't stop fighting until we have fair contracts at Verizon and Verizon Wireless. Click here to find an event near you. Let's recap some of the things Verizon still has on the table: Elimination of Job Security Thousands of dollars in increased health care costs to actives and retirees Forcing you to choose between a Defined Benefit pension that will be frozen at 30 years, or an enhanced 401(k) plan Elimination of Accident Disability Elimination of COLA Increased Contracting Major changes to the Tuition Assistance Plan And more…

Over 1000 CWAers took action on Black Friday to send Verizon a clear message: We won't stop fighting until we have fair contracts at Verizon and Verizon Wireless. The day was a big success. CWA members and our allies at Jobs with Justice held over 50 actions across the Verizon East footprint, and even a handful on the West Coast.

The Black Friday rallies followed another successful day of action across the footprint on November 19, including a huge rally and march in Manhattan with several hundred members and allies.

The holidays are here and while Verizon executives are looking back at a year of massive profits - almost $1.5 billion every month - and multi-million dollar salaries to fill their own pockets, 39,000 CWA and IBEW workers are still working without a contract.

The company is also still out to terrify and silence Verizon Wireless workers and refuses to offer any raises or improvements to newly-organized retail workers bargaining their first contract. In fact, the company just got slapped with a federal complaint for illegally firing Verizon Wireless retail worker Bianca Cunningham for her union activity.

Verizon is still demanding concessions at the bargaining table, including:

  • Thousands of dollars in increased health care costs to actives and retirees
  • Forcing you to choose between a Defined Benefit pension that will be frozen at 30 years, or an enhanced 401(k) plan
  • Elimination of Accident Disability
  • Elimination of COLA
  • Increased Contracting
  • Major changes to the Tuition Assistance Plan
  • And more…
