BIG ELECTION DAY VICTORIES

Throughout New York, New Jersey, and New England, our members stepped up over the last several months to put in work on a variety of local races that will have a huge and direct impact on our communities.

Several CWA members ran for office this year, and won! Huge congratulations to:

  • NJ: Danielle Spinner, Local 1036, Willingboro Board of Education

  • NJ: Mark Kruszczynski, Local 1036, North Plainfield Board of Education in

  • NJ: Anne Luck, CWA District 1 Organizing Coordinator, Jamesburg School Board

  • NJ: Judy Ward, Local 1000, Pleasantville City Council

  • NJ: Joseph Hiles, Local 1085, Woodstown Borough Council

  • NJ: Nelson Carney, Local 1085, Woodstown-Pilesgrove Regional Board of Education

In addition to those victories, we did a ton of work throughout the District and had some BIG wins in key races, including:

  • Adam Bello, Monroe County Executive, NY - CWA Local 1170 and CWA-IUE 81381 did great work to help elect a pro-worker County Executive who should have a big impact on our IUE social workers in Rochester, NY.

  • Camden, NJ - The Camden Workers Rising coalition of CWA Locals 1014, 1084, 1038 and 1040 - representing city, county, and state CWA members who live and work in Camden - had a huge mobilization and fought hard to help elect Elton Custis to the Camden City School Board.

  • New York City - we passed a ballot initiative to change our polling system to Ranked Choice Voting, which will help make our elections more fair and allow candidates greater opportunities.
