AT&T Mobility Members Keeping the Pressure On — And Making Progress

CWA members from dozens of CWA locals across the country, including Locals 1000, 1101, 1298 in District 1, have been keeping the company’s feet to the fire as they fight for a new contract that will cover roughly 9,000 workers — and their hard work and mobilization have been paying off!

Over the past several weeks, workers have staged several highly public events and actions, including running digital billboard trucks and handing out flyers outside of the AT&T Block Party at the March Madness Music Festival in Indianapolis, IN to tell the public about the company’s corporate greed and stalling at the bargaining table.

While AT&T spends millions of dollars to sponsor major events like the NCAA March Madness tournament and free concert events for the public, workers are being squeezed, and the company has low-balled in negotiations.

Last month CWA and AT&T agreed to a contract extension after members voted by an overwhelming 95% to authorize a strike if necessary. The contract extension now expires on April 17. The Orange Bargaining Committee met several times with AT&T last week and reported that the strong mobilization efforts and support for the Bargaining Committee’s work have resulted in some progress at the bargaining table.
