Action Alert: Tell the NJ Assembly to stick to their commitment to stand with workers!

In late June, Governor Murphy made a backroom deal to force the hands of the legislature to pass a budget that cuts $200 million from the State Health Benefits Plan. Dozens of Assemblymembers came out in the following days to publicly pledge their support to NJ's working families and their commitment to working for a solution to NJ's healthcare affordability crisis. Days later, the State Health Benefits Commission released a proposal for a whopping 19.7% increase for State workers.

Enough is enough. The NJ Assembly made a commitment to work with us to put a stop to these outrageous increases; every single elected official who has taken the oath of office has pledged to work in the best interests of the people of this state. We need to make sure that they honor these commitments and stop passing the buck onto workers when costs go on the rise.

We're fighting to pass A5903, the Public Sector Healthcare Affordability and Responsible Governance Act, which will help address this crisis in three areas:

  • Affordability
  • Cost control
  • Governance and transparency

But after passing the bill out of the State and Local Government Committee, Assembly leadership is stalling on bringing the bill to the floor for a vote, claiming that they haven't heard from our members about how important it is. So let's make sure they hear from us!

Tell your NJ State Assemblymembers: Stick to your commitment to stand with workers! Pass A5903 for healthcare affordability NOW.
