#FF15 Victory: Governor Cuomo to Establish Wage Board
As CWA and Fast Food workers rally at Union Square today, Governor Cuomo announced that he will establish a wage board to investigate wages in the fast food industry and issue a recommendation within 3 months.
The Governor is acting because the Legislature is refusing to raise the minimum wage as the State Senate’s Republican Majority blocks action. A wage board does not need legislative approval.
“CWA applauds Governor Cuomo for standing up for workers in the fast food industry who have been organizing, rallying and striking for their rights,” said Chris Shelton, Vice President of CWA District One. “This is a great start and we will continue the fight for $15 an hour as the minimum wage.”
