Contract Victory for New Jersey Childcare Workers

On December 6th in-home child care providers, members of CWA Local 1037, ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with the State of New Jersey, increasing their wages by as much as 64 percent. This big win for workers in the notoriously low-wage child care industry is due in no small part to the solidarity of the 1037 members who fought together, as well as their partnership with New Jersey Communities United (NJCU), a grassroots community organization that works to build power for low-income, working-class communities and communities of color in New Jersey. 

Over 98 percent of the members voted to approve the new contract. This victory will have a huge impact on the entire child care industry in New Jersey and nationally.
