CWA District 1 Celebrates the Trailblazing Legacy of Rep. Nydia Velázquez Upon Her Retirement Announcement
New York, NY – The Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 1 today extends its congratulations to Rep. Nydia Velázquez on her next chapter and deep appreciation for her decades of service to the working families of New York, and the United States as whole.
CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis G. Trainor said:
“Rep. Velázquez has spent three decades dedicating herself to principles rooted in her family history of labor activism and solidarity. Throughout her time in Congress, she has fought tirelessly for policies that strengthen labor rights and job protections, and make our communities safer and more affordable for all.
As she steps down from Congress, we thank her for her tireless advocacy, her solidarity with working people, and her commitment to recognizing and fighting for the needs of our communities. She leaves behind a legacy of both strong and historic leadership as the first Puerto Rican woman in Congress, and a Congresswoman who truly represented the best interest of her constituents.
We wish her all the best in her next chapter!”
