WEDNESDAY: Thousands of Public Sector Union Members to Rally for Affordable Healthcare

TRENTON, N.J. – On Wednesday, thousands of state workers and public sector union members will rally at the state capitol to deliver a message to state lawmakers to put a stop to skyrocketing healthcare costs for New Jersey’s public sector workforce.

WHAT: Thousands of union members will hold a mass rally at the State House Annex to fight for affordable healthcare amidst skyrocketing costs.

WHO: Union members with CWA, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, AFSCME, AFT-New Jersey, AAUP, HPAE, IFPTE and others, joined by elected representatives and supporters.

WHEN: 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 4, 2025

WHERE: New Jersey State House Annex, 131-137 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608

A coalition of labor unions, including the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, AFSCME, AFT-New Jersey, AAUP, HPAE, IFPTE and others will hold a mass rally of public sector workers joining from across the state. Union public sector workers are fighting for legislation to make healthcare more affordable, require fair pricing for healthcare services, and improve the governance and transparency of the public healthcare plan.

Since 2022, healthcare premiums for State workers have increased by 40% while local government workers have seen a 59% compounded increase. The premium increases are putting a huge strain on workers and on the healthcare system itself, and is a key driver of the affordability crisis in New Jersey.
