CWAers Ramp Up the Fight to Contain Healthcare Costs
On May 14, dozens of members from CWA Locals 1033, 1036, 1037, 1040, 1081, and 1084 flooded the New Jersey State House Annex with red for another big New Jersey Lobby Day in Trenton. CWAers held meetings with lawmakers to discuss several key pieces of pro-worker legislation that we’re fighting for — in particular, A5903, our bill to help put a stop to skyrocketing healthcare costs.
CWAers discussed with legislators the dire impact of healthcare cost increases on our families and our communities, and the need for real cost solutions including the provisions laid out in A5903 to improve transparency and fair governance of the State Health Benefits Commission, and a New Jersey State budget that fixes our tax system so that costs aren’t continued to be piled onto working families while billionaires skate by without paying their fair share.
