CWA Says Goodbye and Thank You to President Chris Shelton
After an astounding fifty years of service to the union in a variety of positions, Chris Shelton addressed the CWA Delegation as President for the final time before retirement.
“When I went to NY Telephone, I never dreamed I’d be on this stage. Here we are more than a half century later, I want to tell you from the bottom of my heart, it’s been the greatest honor of my life.”
President Emeritus Shelton, who announced his intent to retire earlier this year, reflected in his speech on his extensive CWA career including CWA Local 1101 Shop Steward, Staff Rep, and District 1 Vice President before being elected national President in 2015.
He laid out his vision for the future of CWA and encouraged all CWAers to continue to organize and grow our union.
“When we fight, we fight together. When we win, we win together. I have one message to leave you with: seize the moment. Everyone of us must rededicate ourselves to growing the union. Nothing is more important!”
