NY CWAers HEAD TO ALBANY TO PUSH FOR NEW GAINS FOR WORKERS
On the first major Lobby Day of the New York legislative year, 35 CWA members representing locals throughout the state gathered in Albany on January 28th to speak with State Senators and Assemblymembers about our slate of pro-worker bills for 2020.
Coming off a hugely successful 2019 legislative year, in which we scored some historic victories for New York’s workers including extended unemployment pay for striking workers, union rights for farm workers, and our own NY Call Center Jobs Act, the CWA Legislative Political Action Team is keeping the heat on to fight for even more.
This year’s legislative priorities include expanding broadband access in New York State, ending burdensome fees for SUNY graduate workers, banning union-busting captive audience meetings by employers, funding the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, and ensuring that New York’s wealthiest pay their fair share in taxes.
