Fight for a First Contract at Monroe Free Library

The chant of "NO BOOKS...NO BRAINS" rang out as CWA Local 1120's newest members at Monroe Free Library held an Informational Picket in their fight for their first Contract on Thursday Sept 3rd.  Members of the community, CWA members and local town board members expressed support during the event.  The Board of the Library tried unsuccessfully to block these members from joining CWA. They have fought and won before (in the NLRB election challenge) and they know they will fight and win again with a FAIR CONTRACT. This is a first Contract so all issues need to be addressed such as....Compensation, Spousal Medical Coverage, Medical Buyouts and Discipline to name a few. The unit joined CWA in September, 2014 after the Library Board tried unsuccessfully to block the workers from organizing. These workers know how to fight, and are ready to mobilize and win a fair contract. The unit includes a diverse group, ranging from workers in reference, circulation, children departments, clerks, and coordinators.

The Bargaining Team at Monroe Free Library is made up of: Frank Fauci - President CWA Local 1120, Jim Gescheidle - Executive Vice-President CWA Local 1120, Dave Cross - Business Agent CWA Local 1120, Melanie Turner, and Joy Hyman
