The results are in! American Airlines agents, members of the CWA/IBT Passenger Service Association, have ratified a first contract by a 73 percent “yes” vote.
The bargaining team did tremendous work to gain the industry-leading contract that American agents deserve.
The agreement includes:
- A 30% wage increase - At the top of the scale, that's $300 extra every week.
- Job Security - No employees will be furloughed “to the street” during the life of this contract.
- Small Stations - More than 1,000 jobs and 30 stations were saved.
- Agent Work Protected - CAR job duties have been clearly defined, protecting Agent's work.
- And more. More details of the agreement are available at American-agents.org.
Going forward, local leaders and members will continue to build a strong steward network to ensure the enforcement of all contract provisions. American Airlines agents voted for union representation in September 2014; that vote capped a 19-year struggle for a union voice.
In September 2014, by an 86 percent vote, airport and reservations agents at American – formed by the merger of American Airlines and US Airways – overwhelmingly chose representation by the Communications Workers of America/Teamsters Association.
