"Voices from 9/11": Video Memorial Project Marks 20th Anniversary of 9/11

This September 11th marks the 20 year anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. We lost many CWA members that day, as well as some who suffered severe illnesses related to September 11th in the years since.

To mark this significant anniversary, CWA Local 1101 has been gathering video testimonials from 1101 members talking about their experiences on September 11th, and the work that they did to restore essential communication services in the days, weeks, and months that followed. Under incredibly difficult circumstances, CWA telecom workers rebuilt the network in record time, making it possible for first responders, government agencies, emergency services, and people throughout the area to communicate.

You can watch these videos at local1101.org, or on Facebook at CWA Local 1101 We Have Not Forgotten.

On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1pm, Local 1101 will be holding a virtual viewing of their video "We Have Not Forgotten” including interviews with Local 1101 members from Verizon, Empire City Subway, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless, available to view on Facebook or on YouTube.
