— CWA District 1 (@CWADistrict1) August 13, 2015Verizon is still insisting on destroying our job security, forcing us to pay thousands of dollars more for our health care, and slashing our retirement security. We’re not taking that lying down. Today, we flooded the streets at informational pickets and rallies up and down the East Coast demanding a fair contract.
Elected officials, including members of Congress, and community supporters came out with us. Elected officials blasted Verizon for insisting on deep concessions despite more than $1 billion a month in profits, for refusing to meet its obligations to build FiOS, and for allowing the copper network to deteriorate, leaving customers high and dry.
Despite making $18 billion in profits in the last 18 months and top executives raking in $249 million over the last five years, Verizon wants more. The Company’s greed knows no bounds.
We have fought for every article in our contract, and will keep fighting to preserve our strong Union. We’ll continue to stand strong against corporate greed until we get the contract we deserve.
