Downstate locals, joined by a number of elected officals, rallied in New York City in front of 1095 Avenue of the Americas on March 31 to demand that Verizon negotiate a fair contract. Members came by bus and train, car and by foot from across Manhattan and the Bronx.

Mario Cilento, President of New York State's AFL-CIO which includes 2.5 million union members throughout New York State told the crowd,  "You are not alone in this fight. From Buffalo to Brooklyn to Staten Island and everywhere in between, we are in this together. Your fight is about what's right and just and true. Your fight for a fair contract is everybody's fight now."

"Despite 1.8 billion in profits a month, they tell us they need industry standards. Those are NON-UNION standards. But we're union. We have a voice. If they won't negotiate a fair contract, we will be out on the street," said CWA Local 1101 President Keith Purce.
