Standing With Workers in a Critical Moment for the Labor Movement

2023 has been a critical year of massive, nation-wide mobilization by workers across every industry. In just the past few weeks:

  • Teamsters members at UPS settled a historic, industry-changing contract just days before launching a strike that would have brought nationwide shipping to a standstill. In the wake of the new agreement, UPS has seen a record number of new applications from job seekers.
  • The Writers Guild members continued to stand strong as they marked 100 days on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers who have sought to kill the writing industry by refusing to pay fair residual wages and attempting to shift many workers’ jobs to artificial intelligence programs.
  • Healthcare workers at hospitals in New Brunswick, NJ and Rochester, NY went on strike for safe staffing.
  • The first customer and ally-led Day of Action to support Starbucks workers was held across the country, with community supporters “adopting” Starbucks stores to leaflet at.

The common theme? Workers fighting for improved working conditions, standing up to the boss and saying loud and clear: “You don’t get the work done. We do.”

CWA members have walked picket lines and joined rallies to support these workers fighting for the wages and working conditions that we all deserve!
