Organizing Victories - Welcome New CWA Members!

AT&T In Home Experts

A majority of AT&T In Home Expert (IHX) workers in New York State voted to join CWA. They are building power with hundreds of thousands of workers at AT&T and other telecom companies to bargain good jobs and strong contracts. IHX workers across the country have been organizing to have a voice on the job, including in Arkansas, Detroit/Southfield Michigan, Illinois, and New Jersey.

Citizen App Central Operations

A supermajority of the analysts in the Citizen App’s Central Operations department have voted to join CWA. The workers plan to advocate for editorial standards that prioritize the safety of Citizen users and bargain a first contract that addresses the serious issues they face, including the mismanagement of Central Operations, pay discrepancies, subcontracting, and the removal of benefits.

Audubon Society

Last week National Audubon Society workers at eleven state and regional units voted on whether to join CWA - and all eleven won! 121 workers in North Carolina; Pennsylvania and Maryland; California; Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan; Nebraska; Minnesota and Missouri; New York and Connecticut; Vermont; Arizona and New Mexico; Washington; and Alaska will join the 130 Audubon workers at the national headquarters in New York City who won their election in September. They will be members of CWA Local 1180, and plan to bargain as one unit.

The Audubon workers built a national organizing committee after 100 of their colleagues were laid off the first month of the pandemic. They fought for months for card check-neutrality.  Audubon management refused and hired the union-busting law firm, Littler Mendelson. The workers then filed for separate elections - and won every single one of them!

Congrats and welcome to all of our newest members!
