The NewsGuild-CWA Members at Law360 are on STRIKE! Picket Line in NYC

At 12:01am this morning, the 250 NewsGuild-CWA members working at the digital legal news company Law360 officially began an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike. The NewsGuild-CWA has been bargaining for nearly two years for a successor agreement at LAW360, which is owned by LexisNexis, a data analytics company.  The Union has been in marathon bargaining for the past several weeks over key issues still on the table including wages that keep up with inflation, healthcare costs, and job security.

Multiple ULPs are in process at the National Labor Relations Board, including challenging management’s unlawful implementation of layoffs which resulted in the loss of 10% of the bargaining unit, announced mere hours after LexisNexis officials congratulated themselves on earning record profits in 2023.

“We know that this battle is about a fair contract,” said Billy Gallagher, Assistant to the Vice President of CWA District 1, speaking to the huge crowd of picketing workers and supporters today. “And what does a contract represent? It represents power. And what does management’s stalling, delaying and laying off workers during bargaining tell you? They don’t want you to have power. But guess what? We got news for them: WE have the power now!”

“We are out here fighting for what’s right, fighting for our worth, fighting for what we believe in,” said Susan DeCarava, President of the NewsGuild of New York. “Because who’s going to do it but us?”
