New Yorkers: Please Complete This Survey to Help Expand Broadband Access Throughout New York State

From telecom workers to City workers to healthcare, CWA members have known for a long time: access to quality, high-speed, affordable internet is not just a right, but a vital necessity. That's why our New York members have been fighting for years to urge State legislators to address the vast discrepancies - and deficiencies - in access to broadband. We've written countless emails and made hundreds of phonecalls, held lobby days and meetings with elected officials, and told personal stories about the impact that lack of affordable broadband access has on our communities and our jobs.

And last year we won a major step in our fight! The New York State Legislature included funding for the "Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act" in the NYS budget for this year, requiring the State to study the actual level of access to broadband throughout the state. This is major victory for CWA members in a long fought battle, and a critical first step to ensuring all New Yorkers have access to broadband.

But the work isn't over yet. We need to make sure that the State of New York has the most accurate data on broadband access - click here to fill out a short survey to help collect and track that data.

Having more accurate data on broadband access will help us close the digital divide - and potentially create more work for CWA members to hook up unserved or underserved New Yorkers.

The survey at empirestatebroadband.com will help make sure that the study is enforced and gathers the most accurate data - take 5 minutes right now to fill the survey out yourself, and then forward this email to others to encourage them to fill it out as well!
