New Jersey Governor Murphy Unveils Multi-Stage Approach to Execute a Responsible & Strategic Restart of NJ's Economy

As the COVID-19 curve has flattened, Governor Murphy has put out a four-part plan for reopening. New Jersey parks and forests are already open and are being staffed by CWA members.

However there are dangerous forces trying to force an early reopening and attacking Governor Murphy and putting our members at great risk. Click here for more info.

As part of the effort to reopen, Governor Murphy has appointed a Restart and Recovery Advisory Council to help provide important guidance as to how to do it safely. Hetty Rosenstein, CWA New Jersey State Director, has been appointed to the Local Government Restart and Recovery subcommittee.

The job of this subcommittee is to make recommendations as to the best protocols to safely reopen local and county governments and ensure the safety of both CWA members and the public. Rosenstein and CWA District 1 staff are working with experts on a “Best Practices” guide of safety improvements and protocols to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This guide will be submitted by Rosenstein to the Local Government subcommittee for adoption.

In addition, CWA Locals in New Jersey will be organizing Safety Committees in every worksite. These Safety Committees are critical to making sure each and every worksite maintains and follows safety guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Safety Committee members will receive training on the “Best Practices” guide and what safety concerns to look out for to help keep members safe from COVID-19 on the job.

CWA is committed to ensuring that every effort is made so that all work places where CWA has members are as safe as possible.
