Local 1104 Members Rally Across New York State for a Fair Contract GSEU Binghamton Rally
Members of CWA Local 1104-Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU) rallied last week at State University of New York (SUNY) campuses up and down New York State to demand a fair contract.
The SUNY graduate workers, who teach classes, grade papers, and provide essential research support, have been working without a contract since 2023 and are fighting to improve pay and working conditions, including updated safety measures and stronger protections for international graduate students.
“It’s unlivable. The rent in Broome County is so much higher than the salary that we make,” said grad worker Emily Rosman. “We’re often told by students that we’re their favorite teachers, not the tenured professors who are making five times the amount of money that we’re making.”
