Legislative Updates

We got the 2022 Legislative year started in New York with a massive Legislative Training on February 22nd over Zoom to learn about what we’ve got on the table this year to win for workers and what the calendar looks like throughout New York, New Jersey, and New England.

New York members got right to work with an Email Action Campaign to demand from the the New York State Legislature: Strong Labor Standards for Broadband Work! We’ve sent over 1,000 emails to NYS Assemblymembers and Senators so far.

We held a Broadband Day of Action on March 3rd to get the word out to the wider membership about our campaign to Build Broadband Better and what they can do to get involved:

  • Textbank: 200 members said YES, they will join the fight to expand affordable broadband access; 41 members sent emails to their NYS legislators.

  • Phonebank: 13 volunteers had 105 conversations with CWA members, and 85% of respondents made a patch-thru call to leave a message for their NYS Assemblymember.

Members of Locals 1101, 1102, 1103, 1104, and 1109 making calls to CWAers about building broadband better
