Leadership, Stewards Training, and Skill Building at Recent Local Conferences

CWA Local 1036 convened their Annual Stewards Leadership Conference in September, with two days of leadership training and development for Stewards across the Local and featuring several dynamic speakers including CWA District 1 Assistant to the Vice President Billy Gallagher and labor journalist Kim Kelly.  

CWA Local 1040 held their 40th Annual Convention earlier this month, bringing together hundreds of 1040 leaders and guests to discuss the business of the local and hear from several featured speakers.  The event focused on resiliency and building a strong, unified local, with CWA National President Claude Cummings Jr., CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor, and Assistant to the Vice President Billy Gallagher giving keynote addresses. Members also had the opportunity to hear a panel discussion about the upcoming election including CWA Area Director Hae-Lin Choi.

CWA Local 1180 had a jam-packed three days for their Shop Steward Conference, on the theme of "Building Power As We Build Our Union". Workshops touched on public speaking and building personal power while finding your voice, as well as challenging institutional racism, and shop steward skillbuilding for the workplace. Guest speakers included CWA National President Claude Cummings Jr. and CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor.
