Huge Win for Local 1123 eBay Workers!

In a major victory for our newest Local 1123 members at eBay-owned gaming company TCGPlayer, who voted overwhelmingly earlier this year to join CWA, the National Labor Relations Board rejected eBay’s request to invalidate the union election.

Since the workers voted 136-87 to join CWA 1123 back in March, eBay and TCGPlayer have dragged their feet on recognizing the union in an attempt to deny the workers’ rights and bust the union - the first union of eBay workers anywhere in the country. While the workers and Local 1123 prepared to negotiate a first contract, eBay requested that the results of the fair and valid election be thrown out.

TCGPlayer workers, meanwhile, rallied and spoke out to fight for their union - in recent weeks they gathered more than 7,200 petition signatures from supporters throughout the world, and marched through the streets of Syracuse two weeks ago to deliver the petition and hold a rally.

“This NLRB ruling is a testament to our persistence & our unity,” the TCGPlayer workers shared online. “We are stronger together, and we have a RIGHT to organize at work.”

On August 12, one day after the NLRB’s ruling, eBay and TCGPlayer agreed to recognize the union and committed to bargaining! The fight for a first contract isn’t over, but with strong solidarity and action, eBay’s first union has taken a major step forward.
