Graduate Workers Demand Education Funding

Graduate workers at the State University of New York (SUNY) Albany, members of the CWA Local 1104 Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU) mobilized on October 26th to demand an immediate halt to the university's plans to merge the Africana Studies and Latin American, Caribbean and U.S. Latino Studies departments. The merger would require resources to be shared between them, which the workers and SUNY Albany students fear will result in fewer resources for all and reflect a lack of commitment by the university to these programs.
The workers and students rallied to demand more funding for teaching lines, fair metrics and transparency, and investment to promote the programs' majors.
