CWAers Win Big in New Jersey and New York in Nov. Elections + CWAers Elected to Office

Several states and municipalities held critical elections on November 2nd, with big wins for workers in seats that CWA members worked hard to campaign for including Phil Murphy for New Jersey Governor and Eric Adams for New York City Mayor.

CWA Local 1037 members joined the Women's March Montclair, NJ in early October, and then canvassed the town to speak with voters about the upcoming election on November 2nd.

In New Jersey, CWA members devoted weeks leading up to Election Day to canvassing voters, phonebanking, and sending texts to ensure that Governor Murphy would be re-elected. Four years ago, CWA endorsed Governor Murphy because we believed that he would stand with workers and fight for the needs of working families - and he’s delivered.

Governor Murphy kept his promises to CWA and New Jersey’s working families:

1) He fulfilled his promise to make the required pension payment – which no governor in either party has done in a quarter-century.

2) He lived up to his pledge to fairly negotiate contracts that addressed the cost of healthcare.

3) He's made good on his word to protect good union jobs in New Jersey.

We also had some big wins by CWA members running for office in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts! Congratulations to all of the CWAers who have been elected to office, including:

  • Tonya Brown, CWA 1036 - Willingboro Council
