Broadband Brigade Update - Our Work to Build Broadband With Union Labor!
The full District 1 Broadband Brigade gathered in New York City last week for a packed day of info-sharing, discussion, and strategizing on how to make sure the Billions of dollars of federal investment will create good union jobs for our members.
The day kicked off with an overview of CWA's “Campaign for Good Jobs and High Quality
Broadband Networks,” our campaign to win more work for our members and help union companies win bids for contracts to build out broadband in New York and ensure that federal broadband funding is spent on high quality work.
Broadband Brigade members, who represent CWA locals up and down New York, spent part of the day building regional profiles to better assess the local community needs, how best to address those needs, and identify local elected officials we can partner with on this work.
“We want to be the experts for every elected official who’s talking about broadband,” said CWA Local 1104’s Nick Hoh, who also serves as the District 1 leadon the CWA National Broadband Brigade.
