On March 28th, CWA Local 1037 members at La Casa De Don Pedro in Newark, NJ who work in childhood development picketed to demand adequate staffing and fair workloads.
The members were supported by NJ Communities United, a community organization whose mission is to build power for low-income, working-class, and communities of color in New Jersey, and has been working with 1037 members to strengthen the childcare industry and childcare workers in New Jersey. Despite the vital role that childcare centers and workers play in New Jersey’s communities, early childhood resources continue to be at risk in local, county and state budgets.
After the picket, Local 1037 Shop Stewards addressed the Newark Board of Education to demand more funding for La Casa De Don Pedro.
