Thousands of CWAers Mobilize for Working People's Day of Action

Thousands of CWA members in more than 30 cities across the country took to the streets on Saturday, February 24 for the Working People's Day of Action to demand an end to an economy that's rigged in favor of the wealthiest and most powerful.

In New York City, CWA members braved the rainy weather to gather with thousands of workers representing dozens of public and private sector unions to rally, cheer, and make a clear statement that working people will not back down in the face of attacks on unions.

CWA members in Upstate New York joined other union members on the steps of the U.S. District Courthouse in Buffalo, speaking out on the importance of working for affordable health care, quality education, and a secure future.

Meanwhile, organizers in New Jersey used the Day of Action to go door-to-door speaking with CWA members in public sector shops about the importance of standing with the union and signing up fair share fee payers to be full dues-paying members.

The day of action came as the Supreme Court began hearing a court case called Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. This case is the culmination of decades of attacks on working people by corporate CEOs, the wealthiest 1%, and the politicians that do their bidding to rig the economy in their favor.
