Black History Month Spotlight: Sean Reynolds, CWA Local 1109

Each week throughout February we're highlighting one of our members, nominated by their peers, for our Black History Month Spotlight, lifting up their contributions and the impact they've made in our union and communities. You can nominate a fellow CWA member or retiree here.

Sean Reynolds, a Verizon field technician and dedicated member of CWA Local 1109, is being spotlighted for Black History Month in recognition of his remarkable commitment to community service and union solidarity.

A true believer in the power of the Union, Sean is always ready to step up and support his fellow members, doing whatever is needed to strengthen CWA Local 1109. He actively involves his coworkers and fellow union members in his volunteer efforts, fostering a culture of giving back.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he founded The Brooklyn Banana Bread Company, using his mother’s recipe to bake and donate thousands of banana bread loaves to frontline workers across the New York Tri-State Area and beyond. His generosity didn’t start there—prior to the pandemic, he helped raise $20,000 to feed 500 homeless families in Brooklyn shelters. Through his nonprofit, 2 OR 3 Together Inc., Sean continues to organize food drives, disaster relief efforts, and mentorship programs, ensuring that communities in need receive vital support.

His unwavering dedication to service, both within his union and in the broader community, exemplifies the power of unity, compassion, and grassroots action, making him a true inspiration within CWA Local 1109 and beyond.

Congratulations Sean!
