Solidarity with Striking Writers Guild Workers!

The nationwide strike by film and television writers that has ground the entertainment industry to a halt is entering its seventh week, and CWA members have been on the picket lines and at rallies to support the Writers Guild of America members. The union is fighting for fair residuals from streaming media, pension and healthcare benefits for all members of a writing team, and a commitment that workers will not be replaced by artificial intelligence.

On May 23rd, several CWA locals in New York City including Locals 1101 and 1109 as well as Local 1101-1105 Retirees joined a massive rally of WGA members and other NYC unions at Rockefeller Center to demand a fair contract for the writers and highlight the critical moment that the entertainment industry is facing right now on pay equity and worker protections. While this strike continues, members of SAG-AFTRA, the union representing television and film actors, took a strike vote, with 97.9% voting in favor of striking.
