Bargaining News - When We Fight We Win!

Local 1101 Wins Great New Contract with Resorts World Casinos

CWA Local 1101 members ramped up the pressure on International Game Technology (IGT) to demand a fair contract for workers at Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York with strong mobilization by members and retirees - and it paid off! On May 8th, Resorts World Casino members unanimously ratified their new contract.

In mid-April Local 1101 and District 1 leadership were joined by CWA members from across the country attending the CWA Wireless Conference for a march on IGT executives in Providence, RI. And on April 26th, Local 1101 members and retirees hit the streets once again to protest in front of Resorts World Casino in Queens to make sure that IGT execs get the message: Our members deserve a fair contract at IGT!

Check out video of the April 26th rally on Local 1101's Facebook page here.

1101 went back to the bargaining table soon after the rally in Queens and bargained a great three-year contract that includes significant wage increases, carry over vacation time, and a clear wage progression

Great work, 1101!

Local 1168 - Orchard Park Vet Medical Center

Workers at Orchard Park Vet (OPV) in Western, NY voted to join CWA Local 1168 last year to address real issues with understaffing and working conditions so that they can take better care of their animal patients. But over the past year they've faced stiff retaliation from the employer and stalled contract negotiations.

They're taking their fight for a fair contract up a notch with support from fellow CWA locals in the area and the surrounding community - last week hundreds of lawn signs were put up around Western NY telling OPV: Take care of the people taking care of our pets!
