Eight months after it was due to be released, the NY Department of Health has finally released it's Safe Staffing report, about which many of our members testified, sent emails, and made phonecalls late last year. Please read District 1's full statement on the report below:

Contract Extension Results:  The Extension has been ratified by a 68% yes vote. We thank everyone who came out to vote.

The bargaining committee has reached an agreement on a contract extension with Catholic Health Hospitals. There will be a vote of this extension on August 13th. Details will be provided shortly on locations and times of the vote.
CWA 1133 Members,
As you are likely aware, the number of COVID-19 Patients at the St. Joseph Campus has been quickly dropping. This has caused downstaffing for employees working there. In addition, the volume at Mercy has been quickly increasing.
In order to ensure Mercy Hospital has proper staffing, Mercy staff may be directed to return to Mercy Hospital for their regularly scheduled shift. As employees of Mercy Hospital, you do not have the right to refuse to return.

CWA and SEIU are asking the following of Catholic Health, Mercy Hospital, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, St. Joseph Campus, and Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital for our members working at each site:

Hazard Pay

Hazard Pay for Mercy and Kenmore Mercy shall be paid in the amount of $10 per hour differential.
