CWA Local 1133 Committees                    

Legislative/Political Committee: Contact: Maureen Kryszak. Meets as needed for informational/instructional seminars/training, pickets, rallies, demonstrations, bus trips to Albany regarding legislative issues, and labor walks, etc.  Purpose:  To fight for change and justice, and to collectively express the voices of our members in politics and policy issues that affect their lives, such as safe staffing ratios.

Election Committee: Contact: Patrick Hanlon. Purpose: Conduct all nominations and elections and referenda of the local.

Mobilizing Committee: Contact: Bob Scime. Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Purpose: Responsible for developing and carrying out mobilization activities around important workplace issues and developing contract mobilizing plans.

Community Services Committee: Contact: Rebecca Scime. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month as needed. Purpose: Assist in developing all community service programs.

Communications Committee:  Contact: Rebecca Scime. Meets every 1st Tuesday of the month. Purpose: Gathering news and striving to create interesting newsletters/updates that address worksite issues that may be of interest to members.

Bargaining Committee: Nominated and elected by the membership for each contract negotiations.

MERCY HOSPITAL

Clinical Staffing Committee (CSC): Contact: Jen Williams, Shelby Marmor. Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Purpose: To address issues such as, but not limited to, staffing ratios, methods of improving care, recruitment, and matters relative to clinical nursing. Subcommittee meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

Workload and Staffing. Currently on hold. Purpose:  To address and resolve staffing issues, analyze staffing templates and acuity assessments, assess average daily census, patient safety, staff mix, use of agency/supplemental staff, hours of work, workloads, shift assignments, shift rotation on-call utilization and floating, patient care delivery models, facility characteristics, and financial resources.

Health and Safety Committee.  Contact: Diane Barth.  Meets every 4th Thursday of the month.  Purpose:  Observance of all health and safety laws and regulations, maintenance of safe working conditions and a safe and healthful work environment. Included in this committee is the safe patient handling committee and workplace violence committee.

KENMORE MERCY HOSPITAL

Workload and Staffing Committees 2023 dates: Respiratory, 2/14, 4/11, 6/13, 8/8, 10/10, 12/12; Radiology, 1/20, 3/17, 5/19, 7/21, 9/15, 11/17; OR, 1/19, 5/25, 9/21, 12/14.

CSC/RN Workload and Staffing/Nurse Practice:  Meets every 4th Thursday of each month.  Purpose:  To address issues such as, but not limited to, staffing ratios, methods of improving care, recruitment, and matters relative to clinical nursing. 

Health and Safety Committee:  Currently on hold. Committee Chair needed.  Purpose:  Observance of all health and safety laws and regulations, maintenance of safe working conditions and a safe and healthful work environment. 

Workplace Violence Committee:  Meets second Tuesday of each month.  Purpose: To investigate events, identify root causes, recognize trends, and provide victim support if needed.
