CWA Local 1133 Committees                    

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUR UNION!!

Budget/ Finance Committee: Contact: Sharon Scime. Purpose: Monitors the finances of the union. 

Building & Maintenance Committee: Contact: Karen Enright. Meets as needed. Purpose: Charged with assessing needs to the Local building and/or its maintenance. 

Bylaws Committee: Contact: Kevonna Neely. Meets every 4 years. Purpose: Review and make recommendations for revisions as needed. 

Community Services Committee: Contact: Rebecca Aldrow. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month as needed. Purpose: Assist in developing all community service programs. 

Communications Committee: Contact: Rebecca Aldrow. Meets the 1st Tuesday of every month. Purpose: Gathering news and striving to create interesting newsletters/updates that address worksite issues that may be of interest to members.

Election Committee: Contact: Patrick Hanlon. Purpose: Conduct all nominations and elections and referenda of the local. 

Equity, Women’s and Civil Rights Committee: Contact: Kim Hayward. Meets the 2 Thursday of the month as needed. Purpose: Develop and promote CWA programs by building a Union all will feel welcomed in and both respected and heard. 

Legislative/Political Committee: Contact: Maureen Kryszak. Meets as needed for informational/instructional seminars/training, pickets, rallies, demonstrations, bus trips to Albany regarding legislative issues, and labor walks, etc. Purpose: To fight for change and justice, and to collectively express the voices of our members in politics and policy issues that affect their lives, such as safe staffing ratios. 

Mobilizing Committee: Contact: Bob Scime. Meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Meetings change when in contract negotiations. Purpose: Responsible for developing and carrying out mobilization activities around important workplace issues and developing contract mobilizing plans. 


MERCY HOSPITAL SPECIFIC: 

Clinical Staffing Committee (CSC): Contact: Jen Williams, Shelby Marmor. Meets the 1 Tuesday of every month. Purpose: To address issues such as, but not limited to, staffing ratios, methods of improving care, recruitment, and matters relative to clinical nursing. Subcommittee meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. 

Health and Safety Committee. Contact: Kerri Diebold-Phillips. Meets the 3 Tuesday of every month. Purpose: Observance of all health and safety laws and regulations, maintenance of safe working conditions and a safe and healthful work environment. Included in this committee is the safe patient handling committee and workplace violence committee.  

Workload and Staffing. Contact: Kevonna Neely. Purpose: To address and resolve staffing issues, analyze staffing templates and acuity assessments, assess average daily census, patient safety, staff mix, use of agency/supplemental staff, hours of work, workloads, shift assignments, shift rotation on-call utilization and floating, patient care delivery models, facility characteristics, and financial resources. 


KENMORE MERCY HOSPITAL SPECIFIC: CONTACT: VANESSA QUINN & ANDREA NUGENT 

Clinical Staffing Committee (CSC): Contact: Dennis Protas. Meets the 4 Tuesday of every month. Purpose: To address issues such as, but not limited to, staffing ratios, methods of improving care, recruitment, and matters relative to clinical nursing.  

Health and Safety Committee: Currently on hold. Committee Chair needed. Purpose: Observance of all health and safety laws and regulations, maintenance of safe working conditions and a safe and healthful work environment. 

RN Workload and Staffing/Nurse Practice: Meets the 4 Thursday of every month. Purpose: To address issues such as, but not limited to, staffing ratios, methods of improving care, recruitment, and matters relative to clinical nursing. 

Workload and Staffing Committee: Purpose: To address and resolve staffing issues, analyze staffing templates and acuity assessments, assess average daily census, patient safety, staff mix, use of agency/supplemental staff, hours of work, workloads, shift assignments, shift rotation on-call utilization and floating, patient care delivery models, facility characteristics, and financial resources. 

Workplace Violence Committee: Meets the 2 Tuesday of every month. Purpose: To investigate events, identify root causes, recognize trends, and provide victim support if needed.
